Maguire slaughters ‘pathetic’ Ratcliffe as Man United documents leaked

It is “petty” and “pathetic” of Sir Jim Ratcliffe to request Man United staff to voluntarily resign from their roles at the club.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Ratcliffe seems to have “lost his roots in Manchester” after his latest move at Old Trafford.

As revealed by The Guardian, club staff were offered on Tuesday (28 May) to voluntarily resign ahead of Ratcliffe’s decision to end all work-from-home roles on June 1st.

The leaked email revealed that staff were offered early payment of an annual bonus if they resign by next Wednesday (5 June).

It follows further cost-cutting measures implemented by Ratcliffe which saw staff stripped of their usual perks ahead of the FA Cup final.

As revealed by Football Insider, Man United will cut £8million off of their wage bill by reducing staff in Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s latest cost-cutting measures.

Maguire slammed Ratcliffe for his “mean” approach to cutting costs before pointing out that the club will have paid for a private jet to fly the Glazer family over for the FA Cup final.

It came across as rather mean and petty in the way it was worded,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

Does voluntary resignation mean that if they don’t agree to the changes in working practices, they get no redundancy?

If Jim Ratcliffe thinks that Manchester United’s problems are caused by Sandra taking her kids to school twice a week and working from home as opposed to having to commute to the office, then fine, but I strongly doubt that they’re going to win the Premier League next season on the back of it.

There’s no evidence that they’re going to cut the way that executives are treated.

We saw the Glazer family at Wembley on Saturday and I imagine that was paid for by the club with a private jet funded for them.

If that’s deemed to be okay, then targeting the Mancunian staff seems just petty and pathetic.

The way it’s been addressed comes across as somebody that has completely lost their roots in Manchester.
