Mainstay axed in five changes: This Liverpool XI will destroy Chelsea

Goalkeeper and defenders

Simon Mignolet (Goalkeeper) – Klopp should recall his usual choice for goalkeeper in league games – Mignolet has had a decent start to the season despite Liverpool conceding 17 goals so far in the league.

Joe Gomez (Right-back) – The young defender has hardly put a foot wrong this season, and has justified not only a regular place in the Liverpool team but his international call-up.

Dejan Lovren (Centre-back) – The defender is the best option at centre-back right now despite hefty criticism from the fans.

Joel Matip (Centre-back) – The 26-year-old should be fit after a thigh injury stopped him playing in the Sevilla game.

James Milner (Left-back) – Moreno had a shocker against Sevilla and Klopp should drop him to the bench. The game against Chelsea is massive, the scrutiny on the defence will be huge and Moreno has proved his vulnerability again. Andy Robertson might be the natural replacement but Klopp needs experience at the back and Milner can provide it, despite him revealing he wasn’t happy at playing at left-back last season.
