Hearts have a major boost ahead of their clash against Rangers at Ibrox this weekend as Steven Naismith is winning his race for fitness, according to a report.
The Herald claims that Naismith, 31, is likely to make his first appearance at Ibrox since quitting the Gers in the aftermath of the club’s financial meltdown in 2012.
It is understood that the forward has returned to training after missing the last two matches with a hamstring injury and is expected to be in Craig Levein’s matchday squad when the Jam Tarts travel down the M8 on Saturday.
The report adds that Naismith could partner former Rangers player Kyle Lafferty in the Hearts attack.
Naismith signed for Hearts on loan from Norwich until the end of the season in the January transfer window.
The Scotland international had dropped down the pecking order at Carrow Road and made just two appearances in the Championship during the first half of the season.
The Scotsman reported last month that Naismith is earning a whopping £50,000-a-week in his current deal at Norwich and that Rangers were in the hunt to sign him up.
Naismith has played five times since signing for Hearts on loan but is yet to score his first goal.
In other Rangers news, former Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc has made a shocking claim about the Light Blues fans.
