Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge are both huge doubts ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Burnley this weekend after missing training on Wednesday, according to a report.
The duo have both been sidelined for much of 2017, but there had been hope that they would return to exact revenge on Sean Dyche’s Burnley following a 2-0 loss earlier this season.
However, the Liverpool Echo have revealed that both players missed Wednesday’s training session and remain major doubts for Sunday’s Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday.
Skipper Henderson has missed the Merseyside giants last two outings with a foot injury, which was sustained in training last month at Melwood.
It is believed that if the former Sunderland midfielder cannot return to full fitness in time for Sunday’s bout, then Germany international Emre Can will replace him at the base of midfield.
Sturridge’s bad luck has also continued on the sidelines, as he damaged his hip during a recovery session from a virus that he had previously suffered.
Starting just one game for the Reds in 2017, England striker Sturridge could miss out once again after skipping training on Wednesday.
In what is a major blow to manager Jurgen Klopp, England boss Gareth Southgate will also be worried as two of his senior stars face a race against time to be fit to face Germany and Lithuania for the Three Lions this month.
A 16th Premier League win of the season for Klopp’s Liverpool could see them climb into third place on Sunday, if Manchester City slip up against Stoke on Wednesday night.
In other Liverpool news, this key defender has been ruled out of the Reds clash against Bournemouth.
