Major update on Rangers pursuit of Luis Palma – sources

A move to Rangers is now unlikely for Aris Saloniki star Luis Palma, sources have told Football Insider.

The 22-year-old has offers from other clubs across Europe and his arrival at Ibrox this summer is increasingly unlikely.

The striker still has three years remaining on his contract at Aris Saloniki after joining last summer from Honduras top flight side CDS Vida.

Earlier this month (15 May), Football Insider revealed that the £4million-valued star will soon decide his next club amid a growing consensus that he will leave Aris this summer.

Palma has made 36 appearances for the Greek side across all competitions this season, scoring 13 goals and providing eight assists in those outings.

Four of those goal contributions came in Aris’ Europa Conference League qualifiers before they were put out in the third qualifying round by Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Rangers are in the hunt for a new striker after they confirmed the departure of their all-time top European goalscorer Alfredo Morelos following the expiration of his contract.

Manager Michael Beale does have Croatian striker Antonio Colak to call upon up front but he had fallen down the pecking order at Ibrox following the departure of Giovanni van Bronckhorst and subsequent injuries.

But, as quoted by The Sun (27 May), Colak said he will do what he can to “keep the no.9 shirt” next season.

The 29-year-old scored 13 goals across 24 Scottish Premiership appearances this season and scored on his return to the side for their final game of the campaign.
