'Makes me feel sick' - Celtic fans react to confirmed key player bombshell

Celtic fans on Twitter are gutted after they learned that Patrick Roberts will be sidelined for three months.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Roberts, 20, has returned to parent club Manchester City to undergo rehabilitation from the injury he sustained against Motherwell on Wednesday night.

Roberts has been on the sidelines for some time and returned to action at Fir Park in the midweek, but suffered a recurrence of the same hamstring injury.

“Pat’s going to be a period of time. It could be anything up to three months. He’s gone back down to Man City. They’ll have look at it as well and have another scan on it,” said Rodgers, as quoted by Man City fan website City Watch on their official Twitter account.

Celtic pursued Roberts for most of the summer transfer window to try and secure a return to Parkhead for the young English attacker.

In August, Rodgers finally got his man, but Roberts is yet to reach the levels of performances he showcased last term when the Bhoys romped to a domestic title.

The former Fulham attacker has also suffered some time on the sidelines, and now it appears it has got to the point where he is better off back at Man City to use their facilities to recover.

Understandably, Celtic fans are gutted to hear the news about Roberts, with one saying that the injury bombshell made them ‘feel sick’.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Roberts has been a key player for the Bhoys since originally joining them on loan in 2016 and has made 12 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring one goal in the process which came in the 3-0 hammering of Anderlecht in the Champions League in September.

With the England youth international now out of action for three months, that means he will no return until early March 2018.

In other Celtic news, Rodgers is barking up the wrong tree in his pursuit of this player and must let Rangers win the transfer battle.
