‘Makes my blood boil’ – Liverpool fans explode at Arne Slot over new Harvey Elliott update
Liverpool supporters have placed the blame at the feet of Arne Slot as Harvey Elliott’s career takes yet another twist away from Anfield.
Aston Villa appear set to terminate Elliott’s loan deal during the January transfer window, with Unai Emery struggling to find somewhere for the 22-year-old to fill in at Villa Park.
He has just five appearances to his name since arriving in September, with Man United loanee Jadon Sancho featuring more than the Liverpool outcast.
Elliott was just one game shy of 150 games for the Reds since signing from Fulham in 2019, becoming a much-loved figure by the fans at Anfield, but he slowly slipped down the pecking order under Slot.
And now, with the player’s spell at Villa seemingly coming to an end, it has emerged that MLS side Charlotte FC are readying an offer for Elliott until the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
Arne Slot to blame for Harvey Elliott downfall
Having already gone on loan to another Premier League team after appearing for Liverpool this season, he cannot play for another European club until the new season begins.
A move to America is now being viewed as an enormous step down for the 22-year-old, and one fan is now having his “blood boil” due to Slot’s treatment of the player.
Fans are also getting fed up with Slot’s “moaning” about the lack of experience on the bench, with injuries piling up, but at the same time, it does not appear that he’ll be keeping Elliott around at Anfield.
- @Greg6LFC: “The treatment of Elliott was the first sign that Slot will fail.”
- @Letstalkabout6_: “I feel so, so sad about Harvey. Slot said he has no PL experienced choices, while never had a glance at Harvey. What a shame. You cannot treat our boy like this.”
- @AnfieldSector: “This is just sad, man.”
What has Unai Emery said about the failing Liverpool loanee?
The person in charge of Elliott’s current struggles, ultimately, is Emery, given that he decides who features for Villa and who doesn’t get any opportunities to impress.
According to the manager, however, the only reason for his absence is that the players around him are performing better, and that is likely true given the run that the Villans have been on.
Their winning streak came to a rather disappointing end against Arsenal, claiming 11 back-to-back victories before a trip to the Emirates Stadium, but the feeling is still high at Villa Park.
Emery’s side remain in the Premier League title race, falling just six points behind the leaders, and some changes to the squad would not go amiss if they are to keep up the race in the second half of the season.
