Malo Gusto sends message to Chelsea fans after omission
Chelsea defender Malo Gusto has taken to social media to share a fitness update ahead of their Premier League game with Crystal Palace on Saturday (January 4).
The 21-year-old missed out on a starting berth in Chelsea’s shock 2-0 defeat to Ipswich due to a lack of match fitness, with Enzo Maresca playing Axel Disasi in his place.
Gusto came on for the last 13 minutes of the game after Disasi’s mistake allowed Omari Hutchinson to double the home side’s lead and secure all three points.
The right-back has struggled for fitness throughout the first half of the season, missing seven games for club and country due to a muscle injury and illness.
Chelsea are now winless in their last three Premier League games, falling down to fourth and sitting ten points off league leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
Malo Gusto raring to go as Chelsea seek to put festive woes behind them
With fellow right-back Reece James suffering continued hamstring problems, Gusto has found himself as Maresca’s preferred choice, starting 14 of his 18 games across all competitions, scoring zero goals, and providing two assists in his 1208 minutes of action.
Gusto took to Instagram to share an image of himself working hard in training as Chelsea look to end their three-game winless streak against Crystal Palace.

Chelsea have a busy January ahead of them with a visit from League Two side Morecambe penned in after their game with Palace in their first FA Cup game of the season.
Maresca’s side then face in-form sides Bournemouth and Wolves before traveling to Man City in their last game of the month.
