Man City 115 charges: Keith Wyness makes ‘huge’ Premier League claim
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has demanded the Premier League make Man City’s upcoming hearing public.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted making proceedings “transparent” is “key to keeping the sporting integrity” of the English top-flight.
Man City were hit with 115 charges by the Premier League in February 2023 for allegedly breaching financial rules over nine years.
Premier League chief executive Richard Masters claimed last week (26 April) that “a date has been set” for proceedings and “the case will resolve itself at some point in the near future”.
Everton and Nottingham Forest have recently been hit with points deductions for Profitability and Sustainability Rule (PSR) breaches in hearings which were not made accessible to the public.
Man City hearing must be public with ‘expulsion on the table’ – Wyness
Wyness insisted the Man City case must be accessible with potential “expulsion” from the Premier League on the table for Pep Guardiola’s side.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I’ve been saying all along, throughout the Everton and Nottingham Forest cases and now this Man City case, transparency is key to keeping the sporting integrity going.
“Richard Masters, Premier League CEO, would’ve done himself a huge favour if he made the hearings transparent and viewable to the public.
“There are still so many questions.

“It really is important, particularly in the Man City case with expulsion on the table, that it can be as transparent as possible.
“People have got to understand the reasonings, and that can only be done with a publicly available hearing.”
