Man City 115 charges: Premier League hearing date revealed – sources

The Premier League will begin hearings for Man City’s alleged profit and sustainability breaches this autumn, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that hearings are set to commence just after the start of the 2024-25 campaign.

The Citizens are strongly contesting the huge number of charges against them, but well-placed sources have told Football Insider that a final verdict could be determined by the end of next season.

The reigning league champions were hit with 115 charges in February 2023 for alleged PSR breaches between 2009 and 2018.

Allegations include not complying with UEFA’s FFP rules, failing to disclose the remunerations made to an ex-manager over a four-year period and not providing accurate financial information.

It has been suggested that Pep Guardiola’s side could even face expulsion from the top flight if found guilty – a potential punishment that was recently cited in an independent commission’s report into Nottingham Forest’s charges.

The scale of City’s alleged crimes has drawn their case out much longer than the likes of Everton and Forest.

The Toffees were first charged in March 2023 for a single breach and docked 10 points, which was reduced to six on appeal, in November.

The Reds, along with Everton again, were charged in January for PSR breaches relating to their 2022-23 accounts and faced their four-point deduction on Monday (18 March).

Man City

Man City sit third in the Premier League table and most recently advanced to the semi-finals of the FA Cup after beating Newcastle United on 16 March.

They are next in action against Arsenal at home on 31 March after the international break.
