Man City 115 charges: ‘This is what my sources are telling me about verdict’
Man City are still awaiting the outcome of their 115 charges case against the Premier League after a secret hearing at the end of 2024.
City have always denied wrongdoing and claim they have irrefutable evidence to prove their innocence, with top-flight chiefs alleging the breaches occurred between 2009 and 2018.
Sky Sports pundits have reportedly (as per the Daily Mail, 17 March) urged their pundits “not to make snap judgements” and “stick to the facts” when commenting on the imminent verdict.
Potential punishments could include a financial penalty, points deductions or possibly even relegation and expulsion from the Premier League.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has revealed what sources have told him about the verdict.

Man City and Premier League ‘will not come out unscathed’
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed he has heard “City have done quite well” – but insisted neither side will “come out unscathed”.
The ex-CEO has previously told Football Insider that the appeal process, should the Premier League or Man City emerge with a significant loss, could drag into 2026.
Wyness suggested the international break is unlikely to impact the timeline for an announcement.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “The media speculation has come out of nowhere because it’s an international break, I think.
“Everyone is willing the authorities to release the verdict.
Position | Club | Games | Points | GD |
3 | Nottingham Forest | 29 | 54 | +14 |
4 | Chelsea | 29 | 49 | +16 |
5 | Manchester City | 29 | 48 | +15 |
6 | Newcastle United | 28 | 47 | +9 |
7 | Brighton | 29 | 47 | +6 |
“The reality is that no-one knows when it will come out. I always thought it will be around Easter time.
“I don’t think the break impacts things.
“Both sides of the rumour mill are going strong – Man City have escaped, there’s a settlement, the Premier League will win.
“My gut feeling, and the sources I trust, are telling me that City have done quite well in this case.
“But I don’t think both parties will come out unscathed. Let’s wait and see.”

Crystal Palace respond to Man City’s Wharton interest
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Friday (14 March) that Crystal Palace will not be under pressure to cash in on Adam Wharton in the summer transfer window.
The Eagles are well aware of interest from the likes of Liverpool and Man City – with Spanish giants Real Madrid also among the sides linked with the 21-year-old.
Wharton impressed from the first moment after making the step up to the Premier League with Palace last year (2024).
