Man City ‘£60m’ revealed in astonishing new twist – boardroom source
Man City have fought the Premier League in the courtroom on two fronts this season with disputes over their 115 charges and the league’s Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules.
City have claimed victory as the old APT rules were declared null and void by an independent panel – but they were replaced by a new set of guidelines in November 2024 which will also have to be approved independently.
Meanwhile, a verdict on the club’s long-running 115 charges battle is due in the coming weeks.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has revealed Premier League clubs are set to lose out on an “astronomical” sum following the legal fights.

Man City legal fights to cost Premier League ‘£60-70m’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed the Premier League are set to pay out between £60-70million in legal fees this season.
The top-flight warned clubs it spent more than £45million on legal bills in the 2023-24 campaign following disputes over its financial regulations.
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “We’re probably going to see the Premier League paying out £60-70million in legal fees this season.
“It’s an astronomical fee.
“This is money which could be going to the clubs, and back into the game.
“It’s just wrong. We’ve got to find a way to stop this happening.
“This win for City opens up a can of worms. Is this going to be imposed retrospectively?
“It’s got all sorts of ramifications. It’s getting more and more complex by the week.”

Man City line up De Bruyne replacement
