Man City ace Jack Grealish sends message to Rodri after fall-out

Jack Grealish took to social media to congratulate Man City teammate Rodri on his controversial Ballon d’Or win.

The 28-year-old midfielder beat the likes of Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham to win football’s most prestigious individual award in Paris on Monday (October 28).

In a surprise twist, Real Madrid were outraged, opting to skip the ceremony even though they were awarded Men’s Club of the Year and their manager, Carlo Ancelotti, won Coach of the Year.

Rodri lost just once, the FA Cup final to Erik ten Hag’s Man United, last season, winning the Premier League, Uefa Super Cup, and Club World Cup with City.

He then helped Spain to Euro 2024 glory, before ultimately being forced off at half-time due to injury in their 2-1 win over England in the final.

This season hasn’t been ideal for Rodri, however, rupturing his ACL in their frustrating 2-2 draw with title contenders Arsenals earlier in the campaign.

The Spaniard was forced to hobble along the red carpet on crutches and is unlikely to return until next season.

Grealish, 29, took to Instagram to send a message of support for his teammate after his remarkable season and deserved win.

Grealish picked up an unspecified injury and is set to be out for the next week after missing their 1-0 Premier League win over Southampton on Saturday (October 26).

Pep Guardiola’s side next face a stern League Cup tie against Tottenham on Wednesday (October 30) before heading to Bournemouth on Saturday (November 2).
