Man City and Arsenal race to sign Bruno Guimaraes – sources
Arsenal and Man City are big admirers of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, sources have told Football Insider.
Eddie Howe confirmed bombshell news on Guimaraes’ £100million release clause on Friday (26 April).
The Newcastle boss confirmed the midfielder’s buyout clause will only be valid until the final days of June.
Arsenal and Man City are plotting to swoop for the Brazil international’s services this summer but it is believed they will need to offload players to boost their transfer kitty.
30 June marks the end of the 2023-24 accounts period, meaning Premier League clubs cannot pay £100million for the midfielder without breaching Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
Guimaraes signed a new contract in October 2023, keeping him at St James’ Park until June 2028.
He has been a key man for Eddie Howe’s side since joining in January 2022 and is well-loved by the Newcastle supporters.

The 26-year-old has notched five goals and eight assists across 46 appearances in all competitions this term.
Guimaraes has missed just one game in a gruelling 2023-24 campaign for Howe’s side.
He is now a regular part of the Brazil side ahead of Copa America later this year.
