Man City and Tottenham stars respond to new Everton signing Thierno Barry
Thierno Barry caught the attention of Man City and Tottenham stars as Everton prepare for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
The 22-year-old forward has yet to make his debut for the Toffees since making the £27million move from Villarreal earlier this month [BBC Sport], but he is certainly an exciting prospect.
He notched 11 goals and four assists in La Liga last season and even scored on international duty for France Under-21s at Euro U21 this summer, with David Moyes‘ side winning the race for his signature.
While The Friedkin Group are expected to make drastic changes on and off the pitch, Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Everton are concerned by PSR, dramatically reducing their transfer budget.
This has not stopped permanent deals going through for Barry, Carlos Alcaraz, and Mark Travers, with more links continuing to emerge at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer.

Taking to Instagram (16 July), Barry shared a series of images from his summer break, with Tottenham’s Mathys Tel replying: “You shine, my pure brother,” with a star emoji.
Man City star Rayan Cherki also liked the post, as did Liverpool and Newcastle United-linked Hugo Ekitike, who continues to be linked with a move to the Premier League ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
David Moyes to improve forward line on Merseyside
Football Insider verdict
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin now a free agent, running down his contract with the Toffees, Beto is the only other centre-forward available to the manager ahead of next season.
In addition to that, for a team which thrives on using wingers, Jack Harrison’s return to Leeds United has left Iliman Ndiaye as the only other wide player, given that Alcaraz and Dwight McNeil play through the middle.
Everton have taken an interest in Unai Emery’s star, John McGinn, though Football Insider understands that Aston Villa have already rejected a move from the Premier League side.

Everton are also interested in Ipswich Town’s Omari Hutchinson, Football Insider understands, with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig also in the race for the 21-year-old.
While he struggled in the Premier League last season, there is no doubt over his ability on the ball, having notched 11 goals and five assists during the 2023/24 season.
It would be quite the transition for the former Chelsea man, given he only recorded five goal contributions last term as Ipswich were relegated, but he could thrive under Moyes’ leadership.
