‘Man City are taking the money for Ederson and signing replacement – it will definitely happen’
Man City shot-stopper Ederson has recently returned from yet another injury layoff and will be a key man for Pep Guardiola’s side in the final weeks of this season.
The goalkeeper, 31, has suffered four separate injuries this term, forcing City to draft back-up Stefan Ortega into the side.
Football Insider revealed on 20 April that Ederson is increasingly likely to quit Man City this summer amid massive interest in the Saudi Pro League.
He will have just 12 months left to run on his Man City contract at the end of this season.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has named the six-time Premier League winner’s likely successor at the Etihad Stadium.

Portugal star could replace Ederson at Man City, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa is Pep Guardiola‘s choice to replace Ederson.
The 25-year-old is his country’s first-choice shot-stopper and is approaching 200 games for boyhood club Porto.

Wyness insisted he “definitely” doesn’t expect to see Ederson on the teamsheet at Man City next season.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think City are going to take the money and let Ederson go.
“Pep wants something a bit younger and more consistent.
“I’ve heard the name of the Porto goalkeeper, Diogo Costa, mentioned. He’s the one Pep seems to like quite a lot, so we’ll see where that goes.
“I do think Ederson is going to leave, City will accept a reasonable fee. Something like £40million will get him to Saudi, and he’d do well down there.
“That’s something that will definitely happen. It’s part of the refresh at Man City – I definitely don’t expect to see him on the teamsheet next season.”

Man City to agree Rodri deal as Real Madrid swoop
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (25 April) that Real Madrid’s interest in Rodri will lead Man City to offer the Ballon d’Or winner a new long-term contract.
The Spaniard’s current deal is set to run until June 2027.
Rodri has spent most of the 2024-25 campaign on the sidelines with a serious knee injury but Real Madrid are nevertheless interested in bringing the midfielder back to his homeland.
