Man City backed to agree Ben White deal after latest development – pundit
Frank McAvennie has backed Ben White to quit Arsenal for Man City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker suggested White would be a regular starter under Pep Guardiola.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (26 December), the Cityzens boss is keen on the 25-year-old but it is unlikely a deal could be reached this season.
The defender has been playing right-back for the Gunners this season and has made 21 appearances across all competitions.
The England international’s contract at the Emirates runs until 2026 after he joined last summer.
McAvennie backed White to succeed at City.
“I think he is confident,” he told Football Insider.
“He has made that right-back position his own at Arsenal and I do not see why he would not go to City. He is at the stage in his career that he is kicking on and wanting to win trophies.
“I do not know if they are going to win trophies at Arsenal. They are a very good team but Liverpool are kicking in now, Man City and even Man United now.

“I think they have a good first XI, I think after that they struggle. I do not think Arsenal has the same kind of squad as Man City, that will be their problem.
“He will want to win things and he will look at Man City. He will need to think he can make that position his own at City. I do not know if Arsenal will win things this year.“
