‘Man City boss Pep Guardiola labeled a spoilt brat in damning Jack Grealish claim’

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been slammed for his treatment of Jack Grealish, as the winger moves closer to a summer exit.

Grealish was brought to the Etihad by the Spaniard back in 2021, with City paying Aston Villa £100million for the services of the attacker.

The 29-year-old struggled to settle in Manchester, but came to life in the 2022/23 campaign, as Guardiola’s side secured a historic treble.

However, last season the England international fell out of favour at City, scoring just one Premier League goal in his 20 appearances.

Guardiola has ruined Grealish

Football Insider exclusively revealed that Grealish feels as if he is being frozen out of Man City by Guardiola, after starting just seven Premier League games in 2024/25.

The former Aston Villa winger could be set for a move away from the Etihad, after four seasons at the club.

Napoli boss Antonio Conte is a big fan of Grealish, and the winger could follow the likes of Scott McTominay by making the switch to Naples.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (5 June), former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara revealed his anger at Guardiola over the situation, saying: “I’m a bit annoyed at Pep, I think he’s like a spoilt brat.

“He’s spent £100m on Jack Grealish, and ruined him as a football player. He’s taken everything away that Grealish was brilliant at, and now he just wants to bin him!”

Guardiola’s style thwarts individualism

Football Insider Verdict

It is well known that Guardiola’s Man City system doesn’t favour the maverick style players, instead prioritising the whole team’s success.

You can’t really criticise it either, with the Spaniard winning so much silverware since he came to the Premier League.

However, for players like Grealish, it is not the optimal environment to flourish in, and there is no doubt that he would be better suited elsewhere.

Rayan Ait-Nouri is set to sign for Man City in the coming days, but this is another example of a player who may not thrive in Guardiola’s system.

The Wolves full-back has impressed with his powerful overlaps and close control, but will need to adapt quickly to ensure that he is successful in Manchester.
