Man City ‘cannot underestimate’ Bernardo Silva after player breaks silence on future – pundit
Man City will not listen to offers for Bernardo Silva unless the player “demands” to leave the club.
That is the view of former Spurs and England number Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 27-year-old’s recent comments about his future.
Speaking to Caught Offside (20 July), Fabrizio Romano revealed Barcelona have identified Silva as a priority target if Frenkie de Jong leaves to join Man United.
Speaking to Football Daily (21 July), Silva insisted he would “give his best” for as long as he plays for Pep Guardiola’s side.
The Portugal international has three years remaining on his contract at the Etihad.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Robinson said: “Bernardo Silva has built up a relationship with the club and the supporters.
“You have to remember he has been one of the Premier League’s best players over a number of years now. The quality he brings on and off the field cannot be underestimated. Pep is not going to want to lose him easily.
“Silva doesn’t speak very often but when he does he speaks a lot of sense. He speaks with integrity.
“I think he is a player and a character who never create a problem.

“I cannot see him leaving Man City. There has been talk of Barcelona and PSG but I cannot see him leaving.
“Unless the player demands to leave, I cannot see it. Pep wouldn’t want to lose him.”
