‘Man City close in on amazing £115m signing blitz’ – Stefan Borson

Manchester City could be set to seal three early summer signings as they look to strengthen their squad over the coming weeks.

Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak revealed they are targeting several new additions this summer and aim to revamp the squad before the Club World Cup, which starts on 15 June and ends on 13 July.

Man City have agreed to sign midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, with the deal understood to be worth an initial £46.3million.

Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri is also closing in on a £36.3million move to the Etihad, while advanced talks are ongoing over a deal worth in the region of £30million for Lyon forward Rayan Cherki

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider it would be “amazing” business if the club can sign all three players for around £115million.

Pep Guardiola’s side will face Moroccan club Wydad AC in their first game of the Club World Cup in the US on 18 June.

Man City given ‘massive’ transfer warning

Borson admitted the likelihood of a £30million signing being a “massive” hit in the Premier League is relatively low.

He told Football Insider: “Those fees in the current market look very attractive.

“If they did get all three of them for £115million, that would be very good business.

“But people do have a terrible habit of calling the transfer market before players have even kicked a ball and we’ve seen it multiple times where people say who’s had the best window and then those players turn out to be effectively duds and do nothing.

“So, really you’ve got to see how the players deliver before assessing the quality of the transfers.

“I think that the only thing that you would be concerned about is just that the likelihood of a player in this day and age signed for £30million, the likelihood of them actually being a massive hit is relatively low.

“Those sorts of players at the bigger clubs have generally not really worked, so I would just be slightly hesitant.

“Although on paper, they all look like amazing deals because all the players are top players.”

Jack Grealish is first of two Man City stars to leave

In terms of potential exits, Football Insider revealed on 30 May Jack Grealish and James McAtee are expected to leave Man City as part of a summer clear-out.

Guardiola has made it clear several players will leave the Etihad as he looks to revamp his squad.

The Club World Cup is also set to provide a well-timed financial boost ahead of an important summer for the Manchester giants.

Man City and Chelsea are set to land a guaranteed £30million from the 32-team competition.
