Man City could land instant ‘£30m’ profit on Liam Delap – Stefan Borson
Manchester City could make an instant £30million profit on Ipswich Town star Liam Delap if they decide to trigger his buy-back clause in the summer transfer window.
That is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the 21-year-old is now likely to be worth around £50-60million.
Delap joined Ipswich last summer in a £20million deal after seeing his opportunities limited at the Etihad.
The two sides agreed on a buy-back clause, which is believed to be worth around £30million for the England U-21 international.
The forward has so far registered eight goals and two assists in 19 Premier League appearances since making the move to Portman Road.
Man City could trigger Liam Delap buy-back clause this summer
Borson suggested Man City could make a significant profit on Delap if they were to re-sign him from Ipswich and immediately sell him again in the summer.
“I don’t think anything will happen with Delap in this window,” Borson told Football Insider.
“It’s likely that the option they have got is a summer option with quite a defined time period on it.
“But I think the thing that’s going to come up is he’s probably already worth something like £30million above City’s buy-back clause.
“If that’s £20-30million, he looks like he’s worth £50-60million, so there is a lot of profit in there straight away.
“It’s hard to believe that City want him back for the first-team squad after Pep didn’t really utilise the player at all.

“He was loaned out initially and then they sold him for a good fee, so even though he’s been in great form, it’s hard to think that City would want him back for the first-team squad.
“Although you could see him as a good backup to Haaland.”
