Man City fans accuse Arsenal of ‘cheating’ after controversy vs Bournemouth
Man City fans on social media have accused Arsenal of “cheating” after they were awarded a debatable penalty during their 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday (4 May).
The Gunners have extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to four points after a comfortable victory at the Emirates Stadium.
City are still in control of their title hopes with Pep Guardiola’s side boasting two games in hand, but they are being put under pressure by the North London outfit.
Bukayo Saka gave the hosts the lead by scoring his 20th goal in all competitions this season from the penalty spot in the first half.
Arsenal were awarded a penalty by referee David Coote after goalkeeper Mark Travers was judged to have fouled Kai Havertz.
However, City fans felt that the decision should have been overturned with some supporters on social media accusing their title rivals of “cheating”.
Arsenal will return to action next Sunday (12 May) when they travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
However, their gap at the top could be cut with Man City set to face Wolves later today and Fulham on the following Saturday (11 May).
