Man City fans in bits as agreement reached for January exit: ‘My heart is broken’
Man City supporters are holding back tears as Pep Guardiola continues to shake up the squad ahead of the second half of the season.
Manuel Akanji was allowed to leave the Etihad during the summer, followed by Jack Grealish and Ilkay Gundogan, with the Citizens splashing the cash once again.
Arriving from Crystal Palace, Marc Guehi has already settled into Guardiola’s squad, with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Antoine Semenyo being thrown into the team upon signing.
Due to the changes, multiple big names have been linked with exits during the winter transfer window, and one player is about to join another Premier League team on a £27million deal.
Borussia Dortmund had been the favourites to sign Oscar Bobb, but it is Marco Silva‘s Fulham who are set to sign the 22-year-old, having now returned from a rather lengthy hamstring injury.
Fulham set to sign Oscar Bobb on £27million deal
Although Man City have a 20 per cent sell-on clause, as well as future matching rights in case of any bids, supporters are still heartbroken about the idea of him leaving the Etihad this window.
Reminiscing about his important goal against Newcastle United back in January 2024, one fan said, “My heart is broken” ahead of City’s Champions League clash with Galatasaray on Wednesday, 28 January.
Many others are depressed about “what could have been” for the talented winger, with only injuries playing a major role in his setbacks under Guardiola.
- @Tymcfc_: “What could have been. Good luck, mate.”
- @Not_PXK: “Fly high, biggest bro.”
- @cityzenken_: “Before he left, he gave us that title-winning goal against Newcastle. You’ll always be remembered by Citizens, Bobb. Goodluck!”
Should the Cottagers be concerned about Bobb’s injury record?
Suffering a freak injury in training in August 2024, the player fractured his leg, which was supposed to keep him out for four months. He only started training again five months later, though.
He then suffered another setback in April 2025, a hamstring issue this time, forcing him to miss multiple key games towards the end of the 2024-25 season.
While his hamstring was a problem once again in December last year, he has made a total of 15 appearances this season, notching just one assist in the Premier League.
Many of the Cottagers will be concerned by those figures, but once he settles into life at Craven Cottage, it shouldn’t be long until he is shining in the final third.
Injuries are a part of any football player’s career. There is no avoiding them normally. Hopefully, Silva’s backroom staff can keep him fit, and they will see the kind of talent they have secured for £27m.
