Man City fans: Kyle Walker is ‘finished’ as new footage emerges v Arsenal

Man City fans are insisting Kyle Walker is “finished” at the top level after what he did against Arsenal in the Premier League clash.

Pep Guardiola’s side were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw after an impressive defensive display from Arsenal as goals from Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes cancelled out Erling Haaland’s opener, before John Stones equalised in the 98th minute.

However, the spotlight was fixed on their captain after the role the 34-year-old played in both of Arsenal’s goals – firstly losing Gabriel Martinelli on the flank, and later Gabriel from a corner.

The Gunners’ first goal in particular saw Walker fail to get back into position before being caught out by a quick free-kick down the wing before it was cut back to Calafiori to score.

Replays showed he had been pulled out of position to speak to referee Michael Oliver, but the free-kick was taken before he could get back.

City’s players were left raging at the speed of the restart, but fans are insisting their captain should have been quicker to get back in position.

This is the latest in a string of underwhelming performances from the captain, who has so far failed to turn in a display which rewards his continued position in the starting XI.

Walker’s complaints to Oliver may have been fair, he was pulled out of position by the official, but rather than running back into his place, he walked.

Fans are insisting that, had he shown more urgency, he would have been able to deal with the ball.

City fans have been left frustrated by the full-back’s performance for weeks now, but after his display in a crucial game for Guardiola’s side, many feel it is the final straw.

As a result, fans have flocked to social media where the captain has been labelled “finished” and his performance “embarrassing” and “woeful”.
