Man City fans panic at Pep Guardiola latest – ‘The end of the road’, ‘Sounds like a goodbye’
Man City fans fear that Pep Guardiola is preparing to leave the club after what he’s just said following their Fifa Club World Cup triumph.
City lifted their fifth trophy of the year on Friday evening after their 4-0 win over Fluminense in the Club World Cup final.
The Manchester giants achieved a historic treble in the 2022/23 season by winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League and have now added the Uefa Super Cup and Club World Cup to their growing trophy cabinet.
Julian Alvarez opened the scoring after just a minute of play before an own-goal from Nino gave Guardiola’s side a 2-0 lead heading into half-time.
Phil Foden scored his eighth goal of the season to add to the scoreline while Alvarez rounded off the dominant win with just three minutes remaining on the clock.
It marked the first time in City’s history that they have won the Fifa World Club Cup, while they also broke the record to become the first English team to simultaneously hold five titles.
Following the full-time whistle, Guardiola commented on his future at City, implying his job at the club was done.
“We won all the titles, there’s nothing else to win, I had a feeling the job was done, it was over. The last eight years, it’s over,” Guardiola said.
The Spaniard still has two years remaining on his contract after signing a new deal last year, but his comments sent City fans on social media into overdrive.
City resume their Premier League campaign on Wednesday (27 December) with a trip to Goodison Park.
