Man City fans rage at ‘disgraceful’ VAR call as Man United footage re-analysed

Man City fans have been left raging after Erling Haaland was denied a “blatant penalty” during their Premier League clash v Man United.

Pep Guardiola’s side suffered yet another defeat, losing 2-1 after goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo pulled off a late turnaround following Josko Gvardiol’s opening goal.

However, after a replay of a controversial penalty claim was shared on social media, fans were left stunned that they hadn’t been awarded a penalty for a foul in the area.

The clip showed Man United’s Rasmus Hojlund wrestling with Haaland, grabbing his shirt and doing all he could to prevent the striker making a move to attack a corner kick.

This left the striker unable to attack the ball, but was not noted by the referee.

Blocking and holding is becoming an increasingly volatile topic for fans of the Premier League, with seemingly every game involving a controversial incident.

Despite the growing scrutiny, no VAR review was conducted into the call, and the home fans have been left incensed by the decision.

Another defeat means Guardiola’s men have won just one of their last 11 games, sparking fears of a crisis at the Etihad, while they have also been marred by injuries.

However, with decisions seemingly going against them, fans have been left questioning the true reasons behind their dramatic dip in form.

Now, many have taken to social media to tear into referee Anthony Taylor and VAR official Stuart Attwell, labeling them “biased” and “disgraceful”.
