Man City fans savage Erling Haaland as his stats from Southampton win emerge
Man City fans have savaged Erling Haaland’s “terrible” performance against Southampton despite him scoring the match-winner.
Pep Guardiola’s side defeated the Saints 1-0 to go back to the top of the Premier League table, and it was the 24-year-old who scored the only goal of the game in the fifth minute at the Etihad Stadium.
However, the Norway international missed multiple opportunities to kill off the game in the second half and could not add to his goal tally.
The Man City striker remains the top goalscorer in the Premier League this season, but his inability to find a second goal against the Saints frustrated fans.
Haaland has already scored 11 goals this season, but this marked his first since the 2-2 draw against Arsenal as he had gone three games without scoring.
It was a game to forget for the striker as he missed three big chances, with his shot accuracy only being 57% as he made just 20 attacking touches.
The striker also failed to create any chances for his teammates, while he was dispossessed twice throughout the game.
The defending Premier League champions were able to overtake Liverpool in the table ahead of Sunday’s fixtures, putting them in prime position despite Haaland missing some chances.
Man City fans claim Erling Haaland provided his worst performance
The striker has been ruthless since joining the club, finishing both of his seasons in England as the top goalscorer in the league, and he’s helped fire Guardiola’s team to success.
Fans believe he looked “tired” against Southampton, while others claimed it was his “worst” performance since joining the club due to the number of chances he failed to convert.
