Man City fans did not hold back on Kevin De Bruyne after the Belgian put in an underwhelming performance against Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
Pep Guardiola’s side headed to Wembley as strong favourites to beat their rivals and win a league and cup double.
However, goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo stunned the Premier League champions and Erik ten Hag’s side secured a 2-1 victory.
After playing the full 90 minutes in City’s 3-1 win over West Ham last week, De Bruyne was once again named in Guardiola’s starting lineup at Wembley.
However, the 32-year-old was unable to meet the high standards that have seen him become one of the biggest stars of the Premier League in recent years.
He ended the match having lost possession 18 times with a 71 pass accuracy before he was hooked and replaced by Julian Alvarez before the hour mark.
City fans on social media were stunned by De Bruyne’s poor performance and were quick to criticise his “awful” display in the capital.
After ending the season having won the club’s eighth Premier League title, City will now turn their attention towards their pre-season preparations.
Guardiola’s side are set to tour the United States in the summer ahead of their 2024-25 campaign.
