Man City fans will absolutely love what Rayan Cherki just said on international duty
Man City supporters might somehow come to love Rayan Cherki even more than they already do following his recent comments.
Erling Haaland is Man City’s biggest star by a country mile, notching 14 goals in 11 Premier League appearances, with seven players tied on one goal each as the second-highest scorers.
Despite starting just three league matches so far, Cherki already has three goal contributions to his name, with another three in the Carabao Cup and Champions League, making an instant impact for the Citizens.
Supporters are hoping for Cherki to fill the hole left by Kevin De Bruyne, which is no easy task for any player in world football, but those at the Etihad Stadium have warmed to him immediately.
Rayan Cherki is already loving life at Man City
The Frenchman has fitted seamlessly into the current squad, in what has been a very difficult transition since the passing of the torch during the summer transfer window.
His positive energy, creativity, and relentless energy hands himself to being a star of a Pep Guardiola team, and fans will be wishing for him to stick around for many years after his latest interview.
Speaking to TeleFoot (17 November), after an interviewer said, “At City they fell in love with you,” Cherki said: “Just like I fell in love with them!”
He’s saying all the right things very early on in his career, and while some might see it as a way to quickly earn the fans’ love, it feels like the player is speaking directly from the heart.
Pep Guardiola builds excitement over Cherki’s arrival
Guardiola has been very careful with Cherki so far, having the creative magician come off the bench to make an impact, but he has recently shown what he can do when given full trust.
He assisted both of Haaland‘s goals against Bournemouth, and the manager has done very little to quieten the expectations surrounding the 22-year-old.
Speaking in October, Guardiola said, “Rayan is one of the most talented players I have ever seen in my career,” Guardiola declared. His talent… he is top. The question is how he settles and how he needs to read actions.
“He started well at the Club World Cup but then had a few weeks off. I have the feeling that most of the time when the ball comes to him, the situation is better.”
