Man City ‘five-year ban’ and stripped of titles – Arsenal & Liverpool fans react

Man City have launched legal action against the Premier League, sparking a civil war among the member clubs, leaving Arsenal and Liverpool fans incensed.

Reports revealed City have described the financial rules as a “tyranny of the majority”, and are calling for rules which determine the fair value of commercial deals, to be scrapped.

This would mean their Abu Dhabi owners could sponsor the club via their other businesses, such as Etihad Airways, at any rate they see fit – essentially destroying any form of financial regulation.

They would be allowed to spend as much as they liked, backed up by the incoming sponsorship money to keep the books balanced, removing any threat of Financial Fair Play or Profit and Sustainability rules.

The hearing is set to begin on 10 June.

Arsenal and Liverpool, as City’s closest competitors on the pitch, as well as any other non-state-owned football club, would likely be left in the dust with no access to similar revenue streams.

Competitiveness in the Premier League – as if it was not one-sided enough already with City winning six of the last seven titles – could essentially cease to exist if the club wins their case.

Arsenal & Liverpool explode as Man City declare war on Premier League

With the very real possibility that any chance at competing for the title, even for such big and historic clubs as Arsenal and Liverpool, could be dismissed – fans have exploded with anger.

City have been labelled “corrupt”, “obscene” and “”, while others claim football is “dying” as a result.

There have also been calls for the Premier League to relegate them and strip them of previous titles.

There were also calls for Premier League clubs to halt their participation while the case is ongoing.

Meanwhile, many warned that the Premier League, and football in general, is “dying”.

One Arsenal fan insisted he would rather see arch-rivals Tottenham win the league than a City side intent on bending the rules.
