‘Man City given encouragement in Donnarumma pursuit – this is huge’
Man City have been backed to complete a deal for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma ahead of the summer window.
The 26-year-old will enter the final year of his contract next month, spiking interest amongst interested clubs despite his inflated wage bill.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Man City are plotting a move for Donnarumma if Ederson leaves this summer.
This comes after Football Insider revealed in April that Ederson is likely to quit Man City this summer and move to the Saudi Pro League.
Now, ex-England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has told Football Insider that the deal would be a “huge” one for City and would be financially viable.
However, there are concerns that the Italy international’s ability with his feet does not match that of Ederson and may for City to change their style of play.

Man City plot ‘huge’ Gianluigi Donnarumma swoop after PSG latest
Donnarumma is one of several targets being eyed by Pep Guardiola’s side as the aim to strengthen the position as part of a summer overhaul.
However, there is a belief that City would have to offer him higher wages than his current £208,000-per-week [GOAL] to tempt him to move to England.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson explained that there is no shortage of suitors for the goalkeeper should be become available, and City are among those eyeing a potential swoop.
“It’s very late in the day to be discussing his future if there is one for him at PSG,” he told Football Insider.
“There’s going to be no shortage of takers for him this summer.
“He’s still only 26, so for Man City to get a goalkeeper of that quality you pay through the nose for his wages, but you’re not having to pay a huge transfer fee.
“There’s no risk involved, you’re not taking on a young goalkeeper who may not be able to cope with the rigors at Man City.
“Pep Guardiola did it once, he brought in Claudio Bravo for a season and went ‘I got that wrong, I need to get another one.
“The only thing for me with Donnarumma is, has he got the ability with his feet that Ederson has?
“Will he be able to play the way Guardiola wants to play, or will City change things a little bit?
“But he’s a top-class goalkeeper and he would fill a huge void.
“Financially, it would make a lot of sense for Manchester City.”

Tijjani Reijnders update emerges at the Etihad
Alongside the potential addition of a new goalkeeper, Man City are also looking to strengthen in midfield with a number of targets on their radar.
Football Insider revealed on 16 May that City are making progress towards signing Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan in a record-breaking deal.
City’s move for Reijnders could be worth upwards of £70million, dwarfing Milan’s record sale which saw Kaka move to Real Madrid for £56million in 2009.
As a result, Football Insider revealed in March that Man City could sell players before signing Reijnders to clear space in the squad and raise funds.
