Man City handed big Erling Haaland injury boost after confirmed news – pundit
Frank McAvennie has suggested there is nothing wrong with Man City star Erling Haaland, despite withdrawing from the Norway squad.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Haaland will be saving himself to reach 50 goals for the season.
As relayed by the Norwegian FA (21 March), the 22-year-old withdrew from the national team for their games against Spain and Georgia as a result of a groin injury.
The striker left the national team to return to the Etihad for treatment.
Haaland has already scored 42 goals across all competitions this season from just 37 appearances, 28 of those goals have come in the Premier League.
The forward also netted five goals in their Champions League match at home to RB Leipzig on 14 March after not scoring in the previous two European games that he featured in.
City’s next test is against Liverpool when the Premier League returns at the weekend (1 April).
McAvennie isn’t surprised Haaland pulled out of the national team last week.
“I do not think there is too much wrong with him, that is for sure,” he told Football Insider.
“He will be saving himself to get his 50 goals.

“A couple of weeks ago people were saying he does not fit into the Man City team. He will score 50 goals easy, he is breaking all the records. It is so effortless for him.
“I have got nothing but praise for him being a striker myself. The Man City players are just not used to him yet.“
