‘Man City hatch plan to dominate’ after 115 charges verdict – top source

Man City are pressing ahead with their impressive new stadium expansion which will take capacity to over 60,000.

They are redeveloping the Etihad Stadium’s North Stand and adding a huge new tier – as well as creating a new premium seating area and adding a hotel, fan zone and club museum.

City’s new seating is expected to be complete before the start of the 2025-26 campaign.

The English champions, who are set to be dethroned by Liverpool this term, are pressing ahead with the project despite being hit with 115 financial charges by the Premier League – with a verdict due within weeks.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has lifted the lid on the “mindset” at the Etihad.

Man City ‘believe they will dominate next year’, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness has insisted Man City will be ready to “dominate again next year” and are keen to maintain “business as usual” despite the looming threat of potential points deductions, big fines or expulsion from the division.

City have struggled this term and sit well adrift of the Premier League title race – and are already out of the Champions League.

Wyness insisted he would be “amazed” if there were any other mindsets within the club’s staff at the Etihad Stadium.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “This stadium expansion comes with Man City determined to show everything is business as usual, regardless of the 115 charges.

“We’re going to see this expansion progressing, they want to get this stadium going – because they believe they will dominate again next year.

Man City fans fume at ‘finished’ De Bruyne

As per Football Insider (23 February), Man City fans are convinced Kevin de Bruyne is “finished” at the top level after his performance in the defeat against Liverpool over the weekend.

City are working on a deal to sign De Bruyne’s replacement – with Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz a top target for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Belgian’s contract at the Etihad is set to expire at the end of this season.
