Man City hit stumbling block as Dario Sarmiento work permit rejected – sources
Man City winger Dario Sarmiento has had his work permit rejected by a Home Office commission, sources have told Football Insider.
The 21-year-old joined City in a deal worth up to £5.2million in 2021 after impressing at Argentine club Estudiantes.
It is understood that Sarmiento’s work permit application was rejected last week, leaving him unable to be registered as a first-team player at the Etihad Stadium.
The FA were contacted by Football Insider on Wednesday (17 April) and chose to issue no comment on Sarmiento’s situation.
The forward, who has been capped by Argentina at Under-16 level, is yet to make a senior appearance for City since completing his move to England three years ago.

He spent the 2021-22 season on loan at City Football Group-owned Girona before returning to City’s academy setup in summer 2022.
Sarmiento made nine appearances for Girona during his loan stint early into the season before suffering a muscle injury in November that ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.
He made a bright start to his career in Spain after coming off the bench and registering an assist on his debut.

Since returning from Girona, the young winger has remained in City’s Elite Development Squad for the past two seasons.
