Finance guru: Man City bank multi-million windfall after ‘exclusive’ reveal

Man City will likely have banked several million from their latest commercial deal with Asahi Super Dry.

That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the new partnership with the Japanese beer brand.

City revealed earlier this month (5 August) that they had agreed a global sponsorship deal with the company.

Asahi will also sponsor other members of the 11-team City Football Group under the terms of the arrangement.

Plumley insists that the “exclusivity” of the multi-team deal will likely boost its value deal beyond the seven-figure juncture.

“Exclusivity is a factor,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“I think it will be worth low-end millions. Against other commercial contracts, it won’t be the most lucrative that they will ever sign.

“But the multi-club aspect bumps it up a little bit because City are in a position where they can offer that across the board of the group.

“Asahi are paying for exclusivity and, if they are paying for that across the board, it is likely to be a couple of million.

“This is lower exposure than something like a sleeve deal. So, it won’t shift the dial too much but it is a case of every little helps.

“If you can sign a deal that has exclusivity across the group, there will be a bit of a premium for that as well.”
