Man City issued Bernardo Silva exit verdict by pundit after £86m report

Kevin Campbell expects Bernardo Silva to be a Man City player when the transfer window closes despite interest from Barcelona.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker suggested the 27-year-old would remain at the Etihad for one more season.

According to Spanish outlet Sport (3 July), Silva has given his agent the green light to engineer a move to the Nou Camp this summer.

Barcelona will reportedly have to pay around £86million to sign the Portugal international.

The attacking midfielder has three years remaining on his contract with the Premier League champions.

When asked by if he expected Silva to leave Pep Guardiola’s side this summer, Campbell told Football Insider: “Bernardo Silva wanted to leave last season but it couldn’t get done.

“He stayed and had a fantastic season.

“I just think there has to be a turnover of players at some stage at Man City. I think they have been recruiting pretty well.

“Would they like to keep Bernardo Silva for one more season? I’m sure. Given Barcelona’s financial situation, Man City will fancy their chances of holding onto him for another season.

“They still haven’t sorted Raphinha out, [Robert] Lewandowski… There is all sorts. They want all of these players. How are they going to pay for them? It is going to be interesting to see.

“I think Bernardo Silva will stay at City for another season.”
