Man City legend Sergio Aguero hits out at ‘entitled’ Real Madrid stars

Man City icon Sergio Aguero has savaged “entitled” Real Madrid after their reaction to Vinicius Junior’s Ballon d’Or snub.

The 24-year-old was the heavy favourite to win the most prestigious individual award in football but ultimately lost out to Man City star Rodri.

Real Madrid reacted strongly, boycotting the Paris ceremony, with figures from club President Florentino Perez to former midfielder Toni Kroos openly criticising the result.

According to Spanish outlet Revelo, Vinicius, and Real had been so confident that the Brazilian would win that they organised a late-night party and the winger promised to buy all of his teammates a brand-new Rolex.

It wasn’t a complete bust for Real Madrid, however, as they were named Men’s Club of the Year and Carlo Ancelotti was awarded Coach of the Year.

Aguero, 36, who scored 260 goals in 390 appearances across all competitions for the current Premier League champions was unimpressed with the Spanish side’s antics.

Speaking on his Twitch channel, where he streams various video games and talks about football, Aguero said, “Well deserved. Rodri is the best player in the world. Football is for everyone, not just Real Madrid – they are so entitled.”

Given Aguero’s history with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, his support for Rodri and frustration with Real Madrid come as no surprise.

Rodri is incredibly unlikely to feature again this season after rupturing his ACL in Man City’s frustrating 2-2 draw with Arsenal earlier in the season.

Despite his absence, Pep Guardiola’s side sit top of the Premier League table as the only unbeaten side left in the competition with 23 points from their opening nine games.
