Kieran Maguire slams 'amateurish' Man City after 'shambolic' boardroom blunder
It is a “shambolic” state of affairs that Man City did not do their due diligence ahead of their now-shelved partnership with 3Key.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the quickly-scrapped deal with the crypto company.
City announced the deal with 3Key on 12 November but the mysterious organisation soon came under fire for its lack of digital footprint.
Websites associated with the company have since gone dark and individuals ostensibly under its employ are untraceable online.
The Premier League champions have now suspended their association with 3Key while they investigate, per The Guardian on 19 November.
Maguire slammed City, who he observes are usually so astute, for failing to carry out the appropriate research before signing off on the deal.

“This is very out of character for City,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“Somebody has taken their eye off the ball. It looks so amateurish to not do due diligence. It’s shambolic, really.
“The Man City brand itself needs protecting and you don’t want to be associated with inappropriate organisations.
“You should do your homework when it comes to any commercial partnership. If there is one club that think beyond the check, it’s Man City.
“They are usually so thorough and professional, especially in the commercial department, that you don’t expect this of them.“
City rely heavily on their commercial income and raked in £246.3million from their various partnerships in the last financial year.
Pep Guardiola’s side have the on-pitch acumen to match their business smarts and are currently 2nd in the Premier League standings.
