Man City make Kevin De Bruyne transfer decision – O’Rourke
Man City will not stand in the way of playmaker Kevin De Bruyne if he wants to join a new club, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (30 December) that the 33-year-old is increasingly likely to leave City at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
De Bruyne’s contract is up in June and he can agree a pre-contract deal with foreign sides from Wednesday (1 January).
It is believed Man City will not stand in the way of a potential exit with MLS outfit San Diego FC and Saudi Pro League clubs potentially in the mix to secure his signature.
De Bruyne is believed to prefer a move to the United States if he walks away from the Etihad Stadium.
While his exit would leave a huge void at Man City, the 33-year-old is one of the highest earners in the Premier League and that salary space could prove useful in the quest to land a long-term replacement.
He has hit two goals and notched two assists in 17 appearances across all competitions this term.
Man City ‘won’t stand in the way’ of De Bruyne exit
Injuries and fitness issues have started to become more regular for De Bruyne, who will be 34 when his current City deal ends.
One potential replacement is Bayern Munich superstar Jamal Musiala, who has long-term admirers at the Etihad Stadium.

However, Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (31 December) that City have no chance of completing a January deal for Musiala despite fresh speculation in the media.
The Germany international’s contract in Bavaria is set to end in June 2026.
