Man City news: Expert ‘100 per cent’ sure on Erling Haaland after behind-the-scenes reveal

Kevin Campbell has claimed Man City striker Erling Haaland’s ability to “produce something out of nothing” is a sign of his “greatness.”

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton forward said the 22-year-old is “undoubtedly one the best strikers in the world.”

Haaland has made an incredible start to the 2022-23 campaign and has scored in all but two of his appearances for Man City so far.

According to The Times‘ Paul Hirst (25 September), club staff have likened the summer signing to ex-Arsenal and Man United goalscorer Robin Van Persie because of his movement.

Van Persie scored 144 goals in 280 Premier League appearances and won the Golden Boot twice.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the staff’s comparison, Campbell said: “Haaland is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the world, 100 per cent.

“You cannot leave him for a second. At certain times in games he does not even touch the ball and then, all of a sudden, you’re 2-0 down. That is the difference. That is the cutting edge that he possesses. It is difficult to defend.

You think you have got him because he has hardly touched the ball and then he produces something out of nothing. That is greatness.”

Haaland has scored 14 goals in 10 appearances across all competitions this season.

The centre-forward is currently the Premier League’s top scorer.
