Man City news: Major Julian Alvarez update from top source
Man City star Julian Alvarez is highly unlikely to leave the club in the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid are among the sides to be widely linked with a potential swoop for the 24-year-old.
Alvarez featured regularly for City in the 2023-24 campaign but in an unsettling development, saw his involvement limited in the final four Premier League games of the season.
He played just 17 minutes in those four fixtures but still managed to score twice.
The World Cup winner was also limited to just 33 minutes of action across two legs in the Champions League quarter-final loss against Real Madrid earlier this year.
Alvarez’s public stance is that he remains happy at the Etihad Stadium and, privately, City are not expecting him to leave this summer.
Man City to block Alvarez exit amid Chelsea links
The forward signed a fresh contract at City in March 2023, keeping him at the club until June 2028.
He made 54 appearances across all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s side in the 2023-24 campaign, starting in 39 of those outings.
Alvarez scored 19 goals and registered 13 assists, bettering last season’s tally of 22 goal contributions.

He was a mainstay in Guardiola’s lineup during injuries to Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland but was dropped from the side when City were at full strength.
Alvarez will aim to add to his impressive trophy haul, which includes a World Cup, Champions League and two Premier League titles, this summer when Argentina compete at Copa America in the United States.
