Man City news: Pundit suggests Ilkay Gundogan’s head has been turned amid ‘huge’ claim

Alan Hutton is worried Ilkay Gundogan’s head could be turned away from Man City.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender insisted Barcelona are a “huge” club and could convince Gundogan to quit the Etihad.

According to Spanish outlet Sport (1 December), Barcelona are interested in the 32-year-old as a replacement for Sergio Busquets.

Barca boss Xavi Hernandez is said to regard Gundogan very highly and has asked for reports on his behaviour off the pitch.

The La Liga side view the Man City captain as a very intelligent player who could feature in various positions.

The German international’s current contract expires in the summer but Pep Guardiola is keen to offer him a new deal.

When asked if an offer from Barcelona could turn Gundogan’s head, Hutton told Football Insider:I think it could.

You look at teams like Barcelona, they are huge in world football, they are known all around the world. It is definitely one of those teams that could persuade you.

I think he could fit in to the league no problem, he has got the skill set to handle that environment.

Man City

You see the players that Pep has let go recently, he does not stand in anyone’s way who want a fresh challenge. He has always got the next person lined up to take that place.

It is really going to be down to himself, does he see a fresh challenge is the best thing for him.

In other news, Agbonlahor has claimed Erling Haaland left ‘devastated’ as Man City image emerges.
