Man City news: Pundit 'sure' Pep Guardiola will sign new contract after 'big' development
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Pep Guardiola to sign a new Man City contract after Jurgen Klopp penned a new deal with Liverpool.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Guardiola will not be in a rush but will want to work with Erling Haaland for many years to come.
Liverpool confirmed last week (28 April) that Klopp, 54, had signed a new four-year contract with his previous contract set to expire in 2024.
Guardiola, 51, is out of contract in two years’ time and, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News (29 April), dismissed the notion that his next steps will be affected by Klopp’s
“Someone did say to me that Pep and Klopp might want a new challenge but there is not a bigger challenge than the one they are at,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“I’m sure Pep will sign a new deal as well and Liverpool and Man City will be winning the league for a long time.

“Pep will think he wants to sign a new deal but he knows there is no rush. There is nobody good enough to take his job, he’s doing so well.
“He’s got two years left on his contract so there is no rush and he can sign a new one next season. I’m sure Pep will be fine.
“There’s talk of Haaland come so I’m sure Pep will want to stay for a long time and get the best out of Haaland.”
Klopp and Guardiola are battling at the top of the Premier League table with Man City a point ahead of Liverpool with four games left to play.
They could meet in the Champions League final if City progresses past Real Madrid in the semi-final as they travel to the second leg at the Bernabeu leading 4-3 on aggregate.
