Man City news: Stefan Borson drops update on 115 charges leak ‘from what I hear’

Manchester City and the Premier League haven’t been speaking to the media about the 115 charges case despite leaks being reported in the press over the past week.

That is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider it’s “disappointing” the parties involved haven’t revealed a timeline for the hearing as it remains unclear when a final conclusion could be reached.

Man City were dealt the charges by the Premier League in February 2023 for allegedly breaching the financial fair play (FFP) rules over a nine-year period.

The Times reported on 12 August the hearing date has now been brought forward to mid-to-late September after it was originally planned to take place in November.

The newspaper said the hearing is scheduled to last 10 weeks and a verdict is likely to be delivered in early 2025.

Man City and Premier League could provide clarity on timeline

But Borson revealed it remains unclear where the “leak” has come from after there has been no official update on the timeline.

He told Football Insider: “If it really is September, we are obviously only working on a couple of articles.

“From what I hear, none of the parties are speaking, so it’s still unclear where this leak has come from.

“I think it’s disappointing first of all that together the Premier League, City and the panel as the key decision maker haven’t agreed to disclose the timings publicly.

“I don’t see how that would prejudice anything and I think it would remove some of that doubt from the outside world.

“It would give people visibility on the timetable, but they have chosen not to do that.”
