Kieran Maguire: Man City not off the hook yet as details of £13m Uefa fine emerge
Man City may have not yet paid their Uefa-mandated Super League fines – but that does not mean they will not have to in the future.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the penalties received by the 12 rebel clubs after last April’s aborted breakaway plot.
The cabal was sanctioned a combined total of £13.4million by Uefa, who will also hold back five per cent of the clubs’ European revenues in 2023-24.

But Off The Pitch reported last Friday (26 August) that the fine has not been paid by any of the clubs.
The Premier League issued separate fines totalling £22m for the six English sides involved in the insurrection.
It is also unclear whether this payment, which was due to go towards grassroots causes, has been actioned.
But Maguire suggests it is likely that the administrative process surrounding the fines has simply not yet been finalised.
“The non-payment of fines in respect of Super League clubs comes as no great surprise,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“The wheels of progress are very slow with regards to individual clubs’ obligations.

“There are also outstanding issues in respect of Uefa and the Premier League that have to be resolved.
“Until that is the case, the clubs will presumably be taking advice along the lines of not paying any money across until every ‘I’ has been dotted and every ‘T’ has been crossed.”
