Man City ready for ‘huge’ January signing spree – sources
Man City will make “huge” funds available to Pep Guardiola and his transfer team in January, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (10 September) that City are ready to pull the trigger on a striker signing in the mid-season window.
Following the departure of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid, a striker is most likely to be at the top of the wish list for Guardiola and his recruitment chiefs.
Alvarez, Joao Cancelo, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Sergio Gomez, Tommy Doyle and Kalvin Phillips all left the Etihad Stadium in the off-season.
According to Transfermarkt, those deals have brought almost £120million into the coffers at Man City.
Man City ready for ‘huge’ January spending if needed
Guardiola has spoken publicly about his desire to work with a tight squad in recent weeks, but it is believed he will sanction big January spending if injuries hit his squad or they fall behind in the title race.
Savinho and Ilkay Gundogan were Man City’s only two signings in the summer window.

The serial winners have started the 2024-25 season in typical fashion, picking up maximum points from three games in the Premier League and winning the Community Shield at Wembley.
City will play in the league phase of the Champions League starting this month, taking on the likes of Inter, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
