Man City ready to offer Donnarumma blockbuster deal as exit on the cards

Manchester City could be ready to offer Gianluigi Donnarumma a blockbuster deal as a PSG exit is now on the cards for the goalkeeper.

Pep Guardiola’s side had a busy start to the summer transfer window after securing deals for Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait-Nouri before taking part in the Club World Cup.

Man City have since added Marcus Bettinelli, Sverre Nypan and James Trafford to their ranks ahead of the start of the new Premier League campaign.

Trafford rejoined Man City for £27million from Burnley last month, with the deal potentially rising to £31million in add-ons.

It was believed the Etihad Stadium academy graduate would compete for the no.1 spot with Ederson, who has been linked with a move to Galatasaray this summer.

However, Donnarumma has now emerged as a surprise target for the 10-time English champions.

Donnarumma set for PSG exit after shock reveal

Donnarumma has been left out of PSG’s squad for their Super Cup game against Tottenham on Wednesday (13 August).

The Italy international played an integral role in helping Luis Enrique’s side lift the Champions League last season.

However, the Spanish boss has decided not to select the 26-year-old for the clash against Spurs in Udine, Italy, after it’s emerged he’s planning to leave the French champions.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday (11 August) Donnarumma will not a sign a new deal at PSG and will leave the club either this summer or as a free agent next year, with his contract expiring in June 2026.

Man City make move to sign Donnarumma

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (12 August) Man City are entering the race to sign Donnarumma after he’s also been linked with rivals Manchester United.

Guardiola’s side are believed to be exploring a move for the unsettled goalkeeper as speculation continues around the future of Ederson, who is also out of contract in June 2026.

Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider Donnarumma wants £435,000 a week to join a new club as he’s already on a lucrative deal in the French capital.

That means Man City could have to pay the Italian shot-stopper up to £22.6million a year to make the move to the Etihad, where Erling Haaland is the highest-paid star on around £27million a year.

Donnarumma has spent the past four years with PSG after joining on a free transfer from AC Milan in 2021.

The goalkeeper kept 17 clean sheets in 47 appearances last season, helping Enrique’s side claim the treble.
