‘Will accept that’ – BBC journalist drops Man City and Rodrygo claim as potential move beckons
Manchester City are preparing to complete another eye-catching deal in the transfer market amid their interest in Real Madrid star Rodrygo.
As they vie to beat defending champions Liverpool to the Premier League title, Man City have signed former Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford, as well as players like ex-Lyon ace Rayan Cherki.
Pep Guardiola is eager to build a squad who are capable of winning their fifth top-flight trophy in six attempts.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have eyed Man City star Savinho, who moved to the North West from Troyes last summer.
Man City backed to accept departure to facilitate Rodrygo move

Amid the Etihad Stadium club’s advances for Rodrygo, Man City ace Jack Grealish is set to join Everton on loan.
But Grealish will not be alone in his departure from the North West this summer, as Tottenham retain their interest in Savinho.
Speaking on Radio 5 Live Breakfast, [12 August] BBC Sport‘s Simon Stone said: “I just think it’s quite interesting that Rodrygo at Real Madrid, a player I rate really highly, his name is suddenly being mentioned.
“If you were to say, ‘we’re going to let Savinho go but we might get Rodrygo in’, well, I think most City fans will accept that.”

Football Insider verdict

Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign Savinho.
Rodrygo stats | All competitions 2024/25 |
Appearances | 54 |
Goals | 14 |
Assists | 10 |
The winger adjusted to the Premier League relatively well last term by notching one goal and eight assists in 29 top-flight appearances.
However, the 21-year-old’s career achievements do not come close to those of Rodrygo, who has helped Real Madrid win three La Liga titles, two Champions League trophies, two UEFA Super Cups, and the Copa Del Rey.
Rodrygo did not have his best season last campaign, but still notched an impressive return of 14 goals and 10 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions.
The 24-year-old’s performances for the Spanish capital giants show that he is capable of excelling in the Premier League, especially in a Man City team where he will play alongside world-class talents like Erling Haaland.
Even though the Etihad Stadium side boast notable attacking assets like Omar Marmoush, Rodrygo can help them become even more dangerous.
