‘Man City set for hefty windfall after striking shrewd deal for outgoing starlet’

Manchester City may have just completed one of the deals of the transfer window as they have negotiated a bulky sell-on clause for a departing player.

Pep Guardiola has already been busy in the transfer market with the signings of Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri alongside Lyon forward Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders.

City are looking to make up for a trophyless season last time out, for just the second time in Guardiola’s time at the club.

They also failed to win the Club World Cup this summer following a shock defeat to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hillal at the last-16 stage.

City could land millions in latest deal

Fabrizio Romano broke the news on X that City had agreed to sell Farid Alfa-Ruprecht to Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen for £5million.

Romano understands City have included a 40% sell-on clause in the contract in case they want to re-sign the winger in the future.

The German was seen as one of the club’s hottest prospects after impressing in his time with the under-18 and under-21 squads.

Chances limited for young prospects

Football Insider Verdict

City’s academy has a reputation for developing top talent and making plenty of money from their sales.

Cole Palmer, Jadon Sancho and James Trafford are three of the biggest names to come through the club’s youth ranks and gone on to be successful at other club’s.

Palmer is one of Chelsea’s star players, whilst Trafford has helped Burnley gain promotion to the Premier League with an incredible clean sheet record.

Sancho is set to leave Manchester United this summer, but has impressed previously at Borussia Dortmund.

Even though they have only gained £5million initially from the sale, a 40% sell-on clause may give City a heft windfall in the future.

City will be hoping Alfa-Ruprecht does shine at Leverkusen so the German can be sold on for big money.

The German had an eye for scoring and assisting as a creative winger in City’s academy set up after joining them from Hamburg.

Pep Guardiola’s star studded squad means opportunities in the first team are hard to come by although Rico Lewis and Phil Foden are both in the current side who has made the grade.

Guardiola though prefers to sign proven and experienced players for his teams as the Spaniard has a history of winning trophies.

City have already spent over £100m this summer as they look to regain their Premier League title from Liverpool next season.
