Man City set sights on sensational Geovany Quenda deal – sources

Man City have set their sights on signing Sporting winger Geovany Quenda, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Football Insider journalist Connor Humm revealed the Portuguese side have one of the “best academies in Europe.”

Sporting have regularly produced high-quality players over the years, with the most notable example being Cristiano Ronaldo.

Man City are now monitoring one of Sporting’s next star projects in Quenda, with the 17-year-old winger becoming a regular in the team this season.

The right-winger has made 13 appearances already this season in all competitions, creating one assist and one goal.

Quenda has also made two appearances for Portugal Under-21s as he continues to develop and progress his career.

Man City see Geovany Quenda as a long-term option

Sporting are seen as a “conveyor belt of talent,” consistently producing bright prospects within the game.

The defending Premier League champions have been interested in bolstering their winger options for some time, dating back to the summer when Football Insider revealed they were pursuing Anthony Gordon.

Quenda would join Pep Guardiola’s team with less experience, but the teenager could be a long-term prospect for the club to invest in due to his age.

Man City target Florian Wirtz

Another player that Man City are actively pursuing is Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, which Football Insider exclusively revealed.

The 21-year-old is a target for Guardiola amid speculation about Kevin de Bruyne’s long-term future, but they will face competition from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to land his signature.
